Location Master is a structured record that defines and manages individual storage locations within a warehouse. A location is a specific storage locations within a zone where items are kept. Locations can be shelves, pallets, or other defined areas. Each location has a unique code and characteristics that help track where inventory is stored, picked, or putaway.

Types of Location

Location Type	Description
Single Item Storage	Storage location which only allow store one SKU.
Multiple Items Storage	Storage location which allows store multiple SKU.
Staging Storage	Temporary location, this includes inbound staging and outbound staging.
Door Storage	Location where nearby entrance and exit of the warehouse.
Forward Pick Storage	Small, high-access locations near the packing zone, holding fast-moving items in pick-ready condition. Regularly replenished from bulk zones.
Forklift Storage	Locations that require forklift access for pallet movement. Typically used for bulk, heavy, or high-bay storage areas.
Aisle Storage	Location where place items on shelves or pallets in a designated aisle.
Kitting Storage	Location where user performing kitting and de-kitting. Kitting is the process of grouping individual items together to create a complete set. De-kitting is reverse of kitting process.
Production Staging	A designated storage locations specifically used for items that are part of a manufacturing or production process.
VAS (Value-Added Services) Storage	A designated storage locations for items that are undergoing additional processing or services beyond standard storage. These services may include labelling on stocks.
Cross-Dock Storage	Temporary area for direct flow-through of goods from receiving to shipping without long-term storage. Minimizes handling and time in warehouse.
QA (Quality Assurance) Storage	A designated storage location for items that are undergoing quality inspection or testing before they are accepted into inventory.
Sorting Storage	Used to temporarily hold and organize items by order, destination, or carrier before final packing or loading. Common in parcel and e-commerce operations.
Return Location	Dedicated for handling returned goods. Items placed here undergo inspection, restocking, repair, or disposal.
Print Station	Area equipped with label or document printers for generating shipping labels, invoices, or item tags during picking or packing stages.

How to Create Location Master?

From the side menu bar, go to Master Data > Location Master > Location, click on the “Add” button.

Fill in all the required fields.

Select warehouse from the list.
Select customer from the list.
Enter the location ID and location description.
Status is set to empty by default.
Select a zone.
Select a location type.

Click save.
Location created.

Item HU Indicator

Item control refers to the processes and practices involved in managing the individual items within a handling unit (HU) in a WMS. This control ensures accurate tracking, efficient retrieval, and proper inventory management of items contained within HUs.
HU control refers to a specific packaging or storage configuration that holds one or more items together for handling, transport, or storage purposes.
Master HU control a primary storage unit that contains one or more handling units, typically used for the purpose of organizing and managing inventory at a higher level.
