Inside MetaSpace, you can battle other players, explore immersive worlds, and improvise how you interact with the environment. In the story mode, you play as Todd, the protagonist. In the arenas, you can play Todd as well as the other characters you bought from the marketplace. Along with shootables, melees, and vehicles, all acquired characters also live in your wallet as NFTs. The core gameplay involves combating enemies, collecting minerals, repairing equipment, and ultimately finding a way out and going home. The MetaSpace game is split into missions, arenas, and an Open World.

Missions

Missions are played in a third-person perspective and follow a story mode. There are four missions before the Open World. You need to finish all the tasks inside a mission to complete it, and then go to the next mission through a portal. Completing missions earns you experience points (XP). The storyline in MetaSpace is played through the game missions, including the Open World missions. Missions are where you complete specific tasks, collect resources, fight enemies, and progress the main story. You can replay them anytime to earn more XP or try different strategies. Some missions are short and quick, while others are long and full of choices. Every mission ends with a portal that takes you to the next area once you finish the arena that follows it. Missions also unlock new areas, weapons, and story events. The game gives you freedom to choose the order of some side tasks, but the main path always moves forward. XP from missions is the fastest way to level up and unlock the Open World.

Arenas

Arenas, on the other hand, are played from a first-person shooter view. Completing arenas also earns you XP. Each mission before the Open World is followed by an arena. You can use the portals from one mission to another only after you complete the corresponding arena. For example, you have to complete mission 1 and arena 1 to use portal 1, which takes you to mission 2. Arenas are intense deathmatch battles where you fight other players or AI opponents in dynamic space environments. You spend XP to enter, the winner takes most of the pot, and 20% is burned to keep the economy healthy. Winning arenas gives you big XP boosts and sometimes rare items or character unlocks.

Private Arena

At any point in the game, you can jump into the private arena mode. It is a private multiplayer FPS deathmatch mode that also gives you a glimpse into the Open World. All MetaSpace Esports competitions and community events, including game nights, are conducted in Private Arena mode. You can invite friends, set custom rules, practice new weapons, or just have fun without worrying about the main story. It is the perfect place to warm up before big tournaments or test new loadouts.

Open World

Once you complete the first four missions and the four arenas, the Open World unlocks for you. However, to play the Open World, you need to get whitelisted, which requires you to have at least 25,000 XP in your account. The Open World contains a rich storyline, multiple missions, and endless options for improvisation. The Open World is still under active development and testing. You can freely explore the huge map, accept side quests, build your base, hunt rare resources, join player events, or just drive around in your vehicle NFTs. The world feels alive with other players, random events, weather changes, and day-night cycles.

Story Mode

The story mode on MetaSpace follows the protagonist, Todd, a starship pilot from Earth, ambushed in space during a critical mission. Todd crashes into a scrapyard planet and walks away from the explosion with partial memory loss. Todd explores the unknown planet in hopes of finding the way back home. He makes allies, fights enemies, does jobs, collects materials, fixes equipment, and transports through portals to move forward in the game. The story is full of twists, surprises, old friends, and huge revelations that keep you hooked from the very first minute.

The biggest story arc right now is Mission 5, told across four phases. In Phase 1 you arrive on a barren planet, meet the mascot, repair a generator while fighting waves of enemy mobs, unlock Todd Base for storing items, and discover three portals. Portal 1 leads to the Marketplace and is already open. In Phase 2 you reach the Marketplace, complete mini-missions, meet Roxxo and Cyto, learn that Valeska has kidnapped Flora, fight through a wrecked warehouse, defeat Astro Gold in a boss battle, rescue Flora, plant a bomb, and escape on Cyto’s spaceship to Dreadfort. Phase 3 takes you into the toxic Terminus where you need a permanent mask to survive. You save a child named Rynn and receive the first key piece, repair a power grid while dodging a giant monster to find the second key piece, defend your base from a raid, discover a dead body with the same symbol as your keys, and meet the Rebel Elder who guides you through the Echo Tunnel maze to a bunker. Inside the bunker you solve puzzles, defeat the final boss monster, assemble all three key pieces, and operate the chamber lift that takes you straight to the Genesis. Phase 4 begins the moment you step into the crowded Genesis. People spot you, police chase you, you fight or run to Dale’s house, get new clothes to blend in, and start your new life there. The story keeps unfolding with more allies, betrayals, and bigger threats as you travel between worlds.

Rewards and Tokens

When a gamer completes missions by performing in-game tasks, they are rewarded with experience points (XP). Playing arenas costs you XPs, and winning them earns you XPs. Players can also earn XP from daily logins, daily spins, and community rewards. Names of players with the most in-game XP will be shown on the in-game leaderboard. XP can be converted into $LORD, MetaSpace’s earning and utility token. All in-game purchases are conducted exclusively in $MLD, the platform’s in-game currency and native token, which also functions as the ecosystem governance token.

You can read more about tokens in the Economy section here.
