Welcome to Vietnam!

We are honored you are joining us in our wedding and visiting Linh’s home.

The Wedding

You’re invited to two official events on Sunday, January 3rd, 2027, in Vũng Tàu:

First is the traditional Vietnamese wedding ceremony in the morning, called Lễ Vu Quy. This ceremony begins with the groom and his family visiting the bride’s home, bringing gifts (mâm quả) as a formal request to marry their daughter. If the bride’s family accepts, the tea ceremony proceeds, during which the couple pays respects to the ancestors and receives blessings and gifts from both sides of the family.

Second is the evening wedding reception at Bình An Village.

TL;DR

<aside> ⛅

Weather: Google AI says January it is the best time to visit, and so does Linh’s mom.

You can expect warm daytime highs around 30 C/86 F and refreshing, cooler nights averaging 23 C/73 F. Rain is incredibly rare, making it perfect for beach days.

And yes, humidity is high, expect > 70%.

Clothes: We recommend loose-fitting, lightweight, breathable, and comfortable clothes. Cotton and linen are great.

Linh recommends long sleeves or a super-light wind jacket when going out during the day. The sun and salty breeze “tans” you much faster. Please lather on your sunscreen!

Sandals and slippers are perfect for the high humidity. So do sunglasses and hats!

Masks are highly recommended while traveling by moped. If you need a medical face mask, ask Linh’s mom for plenty.

Food safety: Please do check out the places we recommend. They are certified yummy and safe by Andrew!

Please have medicine ready and be careful with street-vendor food. If you see that the area is fairly clean and the food is cooked and hot, that’s usually okay. We think American stomachs may not be accustomed to the different ingredients and spices, so take it slow.

Special doctor on call if you need anything: Linh’s dad, Dr. Thắng

Shopping: Unless the price is clearly marked, the shop owners will probably overcharge visitors 2-3 times the true local price. Linh gets fooled too, as she is “a clueless bird”, as Andrew says. So please do bargain!

A credit card with NO foreign transaction fee is great. To get cash at ATM for a fee (~3%), bring your debit card. You can also go to a bank and exchange USD for VND at no additional fee.

Cash is the easiest way to pay at local vendors. Please take your time and make sure your change is accurate.

Best to keep your cash in a zip pouch/wallet and keep it in your zipped bag/backpack.
