The closest airport to Vung Tau is SGN (Tan Son Nhat International Airport) in Ho Chi Minh City. Total flight time, including layover, ranges from 20-30+ hours, shorter if you are flying from the West coast. Layovers in either Korea: ICN (Incheon), or Japan: NRT (Narita), HND (Haneda) is great.

We recommend booking flights at least 3 months in advance for the best price and options.

In December and January, Vietnam will be 13 hours ahead of US CDT. If you were to leave the US on Dec 27th, you would arrive in Vietnam late night Dec 28th/early morning Dec 29th. (Because of the time difference, it seems as if it takes 2 full days to travel, we promise you, it is not).
Your flights are trans-Pacific - please check your baggage allowance accordingly. Most flights used to allow 2 free checked bag/passenger, but many have reduced to 1 in recent years. The weight limit per bag is 50 lbs/23 kg.
Please connect to the airport wifi when you arrive at the airport.

The best way to beat jet lag is to force your routine into local time

There are shuttles from the airport every 20 mins or so, unless you arrive at a strange time. You should see a shuttle lane when you get outside. Make sure to tell them you’re going to Vung Tau. Cost is ~$10/person and the shuttle will take you to your exact address. Depending on traffic, travel time is 2—2.5 hours. Some popular shuttle companies are: Hoa Mai, Thanh Vinh, Toan Thang, Huy Hoang, and Anh Quoc. We recommend taking Huy Hoang.
