Getting to Basel

Basel is very well connected and easy to reach by both train and plane.

By train

We recommend booking your tickets directly with national rail providers like SBB (Switzerland), DB (Germany), SNCF (France), or ÖBB (Austria), depending on where you’re coming from.

Basel SBB is the main station and just 10 minutes by tram from Messe Basel (Messeplatz). Coming from Germany? Basel Badischer Bahnhof is even closer, around 5 minutes by tram to Messeplatz.

💡 Good to know:

If you stay overnight at a hotel in Basel, you’ll receive the Basel Card, which includes free public transport within the city for the duration of your stay.

By plane

EuroAirport Basel–Mulhouse–Freiburg (BSL) is located around 15–20 minutes from the city centre.

From the airport, you can:

ℹ️ Many Basel hotels also provide a free public transport ticket for the journey from the airport into the city, just ask at your hotel or check your booking details.
