Book: Lone Wolf

Outline (v2)

Warm-up:

Don't feel like this is needed today, but am going to do it just for the discipline of it. But kind of reminds me of the video from Allen Iverson about "practice". We talkin' about practice.

Not going to lie, practice is good though when you're just getting started. If I ever make it to hall-of-fame status like Allen Iverson, then maybe I might consider skipping "practice."

Alright, time to get writing.

Based on our yin-yang, head vs heart, approach to goal-setting, we've identitified 3 key types (or "styles") to head-based goal-setting. They include: objectives (why), key results (what), and initiatives (how).

Now, for those of you who are familiar with the system "OKRs" (Objectives & Key Results), we've extracted some of these elements into our own observations with entrepreneurs and professionals over the years.

OKRs are great for organizations who want higher-level alignment. But it still fails to engage some of the other areas we mentioned, which include Visualizations, Affirmations, and Core Feelings.

Objectives

Objectives are like goals, but not quite. A goal is usually broad, intangible, and abstract. Whereas an objective is typically specific, tangible, and measurable. But the two are often used interchangably.

We use objectives a lot more because they are more immediately actionable. In our system, action (no matter how small or seemingly trivial) can help you shape a clearer goal over time (since many often struggle to define clear goals).
