Outbound sort after wave picking is a post-picking process in warehouse operations where picked items are grouped and organized before shipping — usually by order, destination, route, or carrier — to make packing and dispatch more efficient.
In wave picking, multiple orders are grouped into a single “wave” based on criteria like shipping time, carrier, or zone. Pickers collect all items for that wave in bulk, not necessarily keeping them separated by individual orders during the pick.
Once picking is done, all picked items from the wave are sent to a sorting area, to break down the bulk-picked inventory and re-sort into their correct orders or shipping batches.
