This links to our data protection policy.
It is a legal requirement for the nurseries to hold information about the children attending the nursery and the staff who work there. Basic information is used for registers, invoices and for emergency contacts; all records deemed confidential under our data protection policy will be stored securely in a locked cabinet or in our password protected computer system.
Whilst working, staff may learn more information about the families. All staff are aware of their responsibilities with regards to confidentiality and know that the information is only for use whilst fulfilling their job roles.
If any of this information is requested for whatever reason, the parent’s permission will usually be sought. If however a child is considered at risk, our safeguarding policy will override confidentiality. Requests for access to data are handled by a Subject Access Request, (see separate policy.)
