TLDR
This is how we take an Idea, build a team around the Vision and generate revenue in 30 days:
Last November, a community formed around a simple question:
“Can we help people make the right connections at events?”
That question became TheSummeet, and it was a success. So much so, it derailed my original plan. I started it as a side project to find talent for another venture. But after months of reflection, I decided to follow what feels right: I paused the other venture and decided to make a real startup out of TheSummeet.
The mission is clear, and it resonates with many. But because I kept things open early on, my potential co-founders were all strangers. We’d been through the trenches during build week, but didn't really know each other enough to get 'married'. That’s a recipe for disaster. So, I stepped back, let things drift, and took time to reflect. I wanted to build relationships, and design a governance model that could support a long-term community-powered project, without losing sight of the Mission or giving up control too soon.
Now's the time to build it for real!
My plan was to start slowly: share the kind of company I want to build, why it matters, and find the right people to join me. But as many things with TheSummeet, the universe had other plans: A new opportunity came up, and instead of waiting, I’m saying yes.
Ambitious Goal: Launch TheSummeet during Unicorn Week in Lisbon this June.
This gives us one month to go from 0 to revenue. Can we build a real startup in 30 days?
I don’t know if everyone from the original team is still around. Some of our key people need income or have full-time jobs. But here’s what I do know:
We discovered a secret. A new social dynamic that people love and the world needs. And I know way more people interested in helping build this today than I did last November!
