What's happening?

The Commonwealth Games will take place across the West Midlands in the summer of 2022. It will be a once in a lifetime opportunity to put the city and the region on the map. It will help deliver a healthier, happier, better connected and more prosperous region for us all, with new and upgraded sports facilities, affordable housing and by creating thousands of volunteer and job opportunities. The positive effects of the Games will be felt for generations to come and transport has an important role to play in making it all happen.

We’ve developed a plan, in partnership with Birmingham 2022 and local authorities across the West Midlands, which explains how we hope to help deliver a truly unforgettable Games. A key focus of the draft plan, known as the ‘Games Strategic Transport Plan’ is to make sure residents and businesses in the West Midlands can continue to get from A to B while over 1 million visitors and more than 12,000 athletes, officials, and international media make their way around the region to training and competition venues.
