"The Rock" Just Tried Cupping for the First Time and His Face is Priceless

Although cupping is becoming much more popular for professional and amateur athletes, people are still skeptical to try. It’s understandable - if you know nothing about cupping, those lingering marks can give you pause.

But Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson recently spilled the truth about cupping therapy on his Instagram and the post has already racked up nearly 5 million likes. “Looks a lot more gnarly than it feels, but over all I enjoyed the therapy,” he said.

Despite The Rock’s extensive background in fitness and hardcore training, he’d never tried cupping before. He mentioned that as he’s gotten older, he’s started looking for new and better ways to help his “250million year old dinosaur body” recover.

In his post, he really emphasized the importance of taking care of his body, being proactive, and finding tools to balance and optimize his performance. He encouraged his 221 million followers to do the same.

Decorated Olympian Michael Phelps took to the comments to support The Rock’s embrace of cupping therapy. “The best,” he said, “welcome… it feels soooooo good.” Phelps has endorsed cupping therapy from its very beginnings and always had audiences buzzing over his cupping marks.

Cupping therapy is spreading rapidly into mainstream culture. Everyone from professional athletes - and now superstar celebrities - are endorsing cupping sets like those from Game On Gear.

Cupping involves the suctioning of glass, silicone, or plastic cups ****to the skin, like the GRPS or XTRM XNRGY cups. After they adhere to the skin, they can be massaged into the tissue.

It releases tension in the soft and connective tissue of the muscles, professional deep-tissue massage and complete muscle relaxation. Just five minutes of cupping can provide the same benefits as thirty minutes of professional deep-tissue massage.

It can relieve pain and tightness so athletes can walk into their next workout feeling confident and pain-free. It can also lead to more flexibility, energy, and faster muscle recovery overall.
