We’re just two city folk, learning to grow food.

Not our first rodeo | Our gardening adventure is one of many adventures together. Lucky us!

In 2021, my hubby Paul and I left our urban life behind and set off for adventures in Matty, the house truck we ended up living in for four years.

When 2023 rolled around and we found a new home in Methven, we were beyond excited!!

The only question that we didn’t have a single answer for was: What are we going to do with the 782 sqm paddock that ‘came with’ our beautiful whare?!?!!

That’s how our Insta & Fb posts began. Then I realised I wanted to record our discoveries in more detail and this blog was born.

Expect to see new articles at the end of each season - where I share our biggest wins, our floppiest flops and everything in-between.

I’m learning that gardening is an ever-evolving, totally iterative experience. So join us on our garden journey: I hope it inspires you to begin your own edible adventure…

About Sal

**sal-square-bw.jpg

When I’m not in our veggie garden, I wear a couple of professional hats. Most days I’m creating content for sole traders, other days I’m helping people manage their pain.

If you’re like me - someone who’s starting with zero knowledge about growing seasons, weather patterns, or, honestly, nature in general - I highly recommend checking out Kath Irvine. She’s my edible gardening hero.

Here in Methven, P and I are surrounded by the most awesome soils and the most awesome souls! I’m so grateful to this community for sharing all their gardening wisdom so abundantly and so freely. Ngā mihi nui ki a koe.

About Paul

My lovely hubby Paul continues to dance with me on this life journey and I’m forever grateful for the fun, flexibility and adventures we have together.

Professionally, P is a seasoned software developer and, IMHO, Aotearoa’s most awesome Agile coach. (I’m biased, but I still know it to be true).

It’s easy to recognise P by his thoughtful demeanour. Whether it’s in our garden or behind his standing desk, Paul can be frequently seen stroking his beard in contemplation.
