Mission

Make people excited about the future through data

Index

At Index, we're building the modern dashboard for business metrics. Business intelligence tends to be a pretty sleepy category full of overly complicated tools. We're building a product that feels timeless, intuitive and powerful. We do this by focusing on consistency, simplicity and appealing to what's already familiar. There are just a few product categories left in this new wave of productivity tools, and we're going after one of the biggest whales out there. It's still day one.

Why Join Us?

  1. Massive Problem - Every business needs visibility into their data and operations but there aren't great tools out there for doing this in one place. If you're not a technical person there's no way you can build it on your own.
  2. Massive Opportunity - Millions of people will build their own tools in the future but not everyone knows or wants to code them. How can we give people the right building blocks to build the tools they need?
  3. Substantial Runway - We're lucky to have on board some of the best investors in the world.
  4. Clarity Ahead - We've clarity around what we have to build w/ our roadmap and need a few teammates to help us get there.
  5. Real Ownership - There are still so so many things to figure out. We're an incredibly small team so you will have a lot of ownership in shipping complete new features from ideation to deploying it to production.

Our Philosophy

What we believe about:

The World

Mediums shape messages: We believe the way you present information affects how it's received and interpreted. This is why we tend to favor docs over decks and we experiment a lot w/ tools that help us improve our communication.

Feedback loops drive behavior: If the incentive to do something exists then people will do it. How can we build great tools that create & amplify positive feedback loops?

Less but better: We're not minimalist per se but we believe that a world that defaults to doing less things but better is a better world. Focus is key to progress.

Software

Craft: We think of ourselves as apprentices in this craft. We love to build beautiful software and can't see ourselves doing anything else.

Timeless: We believe great software should be timeless. This means we focus less on visual design and more on what's the best UI pattern for a given action. If software was a piece of clothing, we're building your basic but perfect white tee.

Flexible: We think great software molds itself to the need of the user. This means we constantly try to generalize and abstract workflows so that users can complete an action however they see fit in a way that's still intuitive.

Companies

Speed: We believe shipping speed of needle-moving features is our only competitive advantage in the earliest days. We believe it's the leading indicator of grit.

Transparency: We believe that relationships move at the speed of trust. To build trust you need transparency. We do that by disclosing everything we can including funding, roadmap and growth.

Tight Ships: Small teams can accomplish big things. Our dream is to build a product used by millions of people with only a handful of teammates. That means a lot of ownership but also a lot of work.
