Book: Lone Wolf

Outline (v2)

Heart-Centred Goal Setting

Warm-up (1/3/21):

As per usual, using this time to brain-dump. Will be writing in here throughout the day after I've gotten the main portions of writing out. So over the weekend, I was traveling. Didn't have online access so didn't upload anything. That means, today, am going to be writing 1500 words (500 words per day). It's interesting to see what happens when you miss some days but, then again, it's important to still stay as consistent as possible. It's all about the discipline. And even the best of us can fall off sometimes. Regardless, determined to see this book through, so will do the 1500 words today.

While we're warming up, had a dream last night about some massive tsunami. Managed to escape it, but it's not the first time I've had dreams of tsunamis. Water usually is connected to emotions, so interesting whenever I have them. In the dream, there were some moments that intertwined with action scenes from one of my all-time favorite animes, Naturo Shippuuden. Always fun when analysing dreams.

But ok, now back to the topic for today. Identity. I think it'll be good for me to grab some writing from some previous drafts around this books subject matter. If you're reading this page for the first time, the book writing challenge I'm doing is for 30 days. I'm re-doing everything because there's a lot that's happened over the last 5 years, and what I wrote previously needed an update. This doesn't mean, however, that I won't be leveraging some of the texts from previous drafts. Just need to put it all together and find an Editor who's skilled enough to weave it all in together nicely. If you're one of these people, I look forward to chatting with you!

Warm-up #2 (2/3/21):

So it's Day 14. Managed to write a fair bit yesterday, but had other meetings to get to, so unfortunately couldn't write anymore. However, today, am going to continue writing on the Identity chapter, since it does play a big part in our overall philosophy of goal-setting and accountability.

Identity

Over the first 5 years of The Pack, we experimented with different types of goal-setting methods. In the end, we discovered that one of the most important parts to goal-setting was in fact identity.

We came across this through trial-and-error, but then discovered it was echoed in other researched works from the likes of Tony Robbins (best-selling author and self-help guru) to James Clear (author of Atomic Habits).

Why do you think "identity" is such a big factor in goal-setting?

From what we learned, it has to do with some of the areas we spoke about earlier - from emotionalizing your wants or desires to being able to more clearly visualize your end goals.

If we use video games as an example, in a game The Sims, where you take on the role of selecting and growing your own avatar, what's one of the first things you do? Well, if you haven't played the game before, you create the look of your avatar, and then choose a proession you want to pursue. By choosing a profession (e.g. business mogul, architect, or engineer), you focus your future choices. As simple as this may sound, in life, it really can be as simple as this.
