2020 has been a lot of things for everybody and every month has come with its own new challenge. A year where Australia being on literal fire(Read More) is so far and distant in our collective memories that it doesn't even standout as an highlight. What a year it has been, the last two weeks in particular.

What the last two weeks have shown us is that, in a world where humanity is collectively facing a bigger threat, our many many many problems do not stop existing. They don't go on a break to give us time to recover. Injustice doesn't say:

"oh look, everyone is going through a lot, perhaps I should give them a

break"

No, there has been none of that. Instead, there have been repeated instances of

police brutality against black people in America; the raping and killing of women in Nigeria.

These things should not still be happening. We can all agree on that. In 2020, we shouldn't still have to fight against the same things we have been fighting against for generations; but yet, here we are.

So what should we do?

We know we must do something but what? The inside a bubble podcast exist because we want to tell stories that challenge people's ideas of what society is. It is easy to believe that because in your own experience, you do not face any injustice, these injustices do not exist. In reality, these injustices do exist and what you have is privilege. You are responsible for what you do with that privilege much in the same way that we are responsible for what we do with our platform.

It won't be right for us to claim to have a commitment to tell stories of people's unique experiences in society without including the stories of these injustices. In our pre-season production, we made plans to cover a story on women and what it's like being a woman in Nigeria right now. And seeing just how much there is to cover, we know that this story should not be rushed. That episode will come before the end of the season but it will not come right now. Right now we want to make the open call to everyone with a story to share, a story of their own personal experiences about being a woman in a society that punishes women. We want you to help us tell the narrative of women and make a statement for why things need to change. If this is you, send us an email:

How to fight for change

If you are having a hard time knowing what to do about all of this. If the news cycle is so overwhelming that your reaction is to be quiet and helpless. Don't do that. Instead here are some ways you can actually help fight for change.

PS: For this article, we concentrate on the issue that's closer to home (sexual assault and violence), but we will leave links to how you can help the black lives movement at the end.
