Second a New joiner

As part of the new joiner process we ensure that every potential joiner has the opportunity to meet another community member to ask questions, learn more about whether we both fit and how they can get involved in the community.

Seconders are chosen for their fit with the new joiner’s experiences, background and current challenges. It is also intended to involve as many members of the community as possible in the process, so that you all get to know a newbie!

Ideal New Joiners

We believe that a New Joiner is an ideal fit for the community when they:

• Are aligned to our values and how we show up.
• Need our intimate spaces to express their uniqueness.
• Live near enough to participate in our in-person spaces.
• Have the capacity to contribute and show-up for others. </aside>

Set-up a 20-30 minute call

Please set up a 20-30 minute call with the new joiner by using the contact details that have been sent to you by the Head of Members (Charlie).

From the call we’d love to find out whether you think they’d be a great fit for the community and for you to explain to them about who we are. There are some questions and an explainer deck below, but please feel free to adapt or evolve as you see fit.

Ask the following questions

• “Tell me a bit about your interests?”
• “What purpose or objective that you previously had have you changed or given up on?”
• “If I were to get 3 of your mates to scale you 1-10, with 7 not available as answer, how emotionally open would your friends describe you as?”
• “Why are you a good fit for the community?” Or: “What excites you about being part of this community?”
• “How close do you live to our London? How frequently would you be willing travel to our events?”
• “How much capacity do you have to contribute and show-up for others?”

Ask them if they have reviewed the explainer page and ask if they have any questions on it. Ensure they are aware of the contribution fee.
