At HomeExchange, we are convinced that these moments of escape and discovery are essential.
However, we are also clear-eyed about the challenges of our industry. We recognize the contradictions of travel: the carbon footprint of transportation, the pressure on local resources, and the environmental impact of our own digital operations. We acknowledge our limits: while home exchanging is a more virtuous model, we know it is not a perfect solution, and we still have a long way to go. Our role is to offer a more sensible path by placing human connection and trust at the heart of the experience.

Environmental impact
By sharing existing homes, our community avoids the impact of new constructions. A night in a home exchange is 49% less carbon-intensive than a hotel stay, yet we know we must do more. We are working to better measure our indirect impact and further encourage low-carbon travel among our members.

Social fairplay
We believe vacations should be accessible to all. Our non-monetary model protects the budget of thousands of families while preventing the real estate speculation that can hollow out local communities.

Progress through transparency
Our **B Corp™ certification (score: 100.9 in 2026)** is not a final destination, but a compass. It forces us to face our shortcomings and measure our progress. We publish our annual impact reports because we believe that radical honesty is the only way to build a truly responsible future. We don’t have all the answers yet, but we are dedicated to learning, listening, and improving every day. Together with our community, we are striving to make travel a force for good—one respectful exchange at a time.
