In hotel parlance, ‘Back of House’ refers to the areas restricted to staff; the kitchen, laundry, staff changing rooms. These areas are basic & functional, without the decor & trappings of the guest ‘front of house’ areas.

The proverb of The Four Rooms, refers to the four dimensions of our existence; mind, body, emotions, & spirit. I think of heart & soul as the back of house, the two rooms which we often hide from the world, but on which our mind & body depend.
