Hello! Long time no see.
I hope you all have been well, trying to stay afloat with the pandemic and everything else going on. I made a post a little while ago about some projects that I wanted to launch this month and today I’m launching the first one. Welcome to AniMedica: A cornucopia of medicine from the lens of Animated Media.
Throughout this project, I will discuss characters (and maybe more) from various animated media that make contributions to medicine in their respective shows. My goal is to talk about basic information related to relevant characters, their backgrounds, and any personal speculations about these characters. *THESE SUMMARIES MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS, AND I WILL DO MY BEST TO IDENTIFY SPOILERS BUT MAKE SURE TO BE VIGILANT FOR THE STARS JUST IN CASE. I will also share my resources for each post at the end, because you know… you always gotta credit your sources in academia guys (even though this isn’t much of an academic paper or anything)! I would also like to include that I DO NOT CLAIM OWNERSHIP OF ANY OF THE INFORMATION OR ARTWORKED USED IN THIS PROJECT, I ONLY HOPE TO HIGHLIGHT GLIMMERS OF MEDICINE/HEALTHCARE IN ANIMATED MEDIA, THAT IS ALL.
In all honesty, the inspiration for this project came from a love of animated media (anime, cartoons, video games, etc.) and healthcare and I wanted to see if there was a way to express these ideas together. And here we are 😊!
Anyway, I hope any and everyone who takes the time to view this learns something new or interesting! I have the first couple characters picked out already, but if you have any suggestion for characters that you feel might fit this project either from an Anime, Cartoon, or Video Game (doesn’t have to be specifically Japanese or American either nor does it have to focus on western medical thought)! See you guys tomorrow!
