Greenacre is UCD’s new experiential sustainability hub, located on one acre of woodland at our Belfield campus. Supported by the HEA Human Capital Initiative project, Convene, Greenacre is the first initiative of its kind in Ireland - making immersive, hands-on sustainability experiences accessible to the UCD community and our partners.
Our mission is simple: to explore, experiment, and learn how to take meaningful action for a sustainable planet.
Our Vision
Grounded in the creative problem-solving ethos of the UCD Innovation Academy, Greenacre is designed to be a catalyst for collaborative innovation. It is a safe space to test new ideas, try bold solutions, learn from failure, and iterate towards addressing some of humanity’s greatest sustainability challenges.
Why Greenacre Matters
As Ireland’s largest campus community - 37,000 members, 4,000+ resident students, and €130M annual spend on goods and services - UCD has enormous potential to shape sustainability practices both locally and globally.
Through collective action, education, and engagement, UCD Greenacre provides a focal point for reducing our environmental impact and building momentum for change. With our global alumni of 300,000, partnerships across enterprise, government, and civil society, and a deep commitment to a just transition, UCD is uniquely placed to develop models of excellence for campus-based sustainable living.
