A lot of what I’m going to talk about is from this masterclass on branding that a mentor gave me a couple years back that I still think about to this day. It consists of 3 videos and is the best breakdown of branding I’ve seen yet. Slides and videos below

I would highly recommend watching all 3 parts of the series (just 2x it) but you don’t have to. From the videos here are the main takeaways:
First video:
I don’t think it’s feasible or realistic to create a brand that’s comparable to big tech, but I do want to be inspired by them and understand what makes them so impactful. Ideally, this branding could be something that can be put on your portfolio if you want to go deeper into design.
To answer those 3 key questions posed in the second video:
Eager and ambitious engineering students who aren’t sure about their future
Vision: We are helping people reach their potential in cleantech
Mission: Give people exposure to cleantech through experiential learning.
They should feel like they’re the future of cleantech.
Prepping themselves with the skills and knowledge to make an impact in the world after graduating.
There are 3 parts of a brand that are tangible and what we need help creating: logo, colours, and typefaces. Luckily we figured out our name already so that’s not something to worry about.
