A set of supplemental Unicode characters standardized in the early 21st century. Approximately 1300 Unicode points are defined as of 2020; some emoji commonly used require multiple Unicode points.

Emoji uses pictograms to represent simple words and concepts. Examples include 🐄 (cow), 🇺🇸 (united states flag - multipoint glyph), and 🍕(pizza).
