In macOS, you can use a shortcut (CMD+SHIFT+4 in my case) to trigger a screenshot and choose the "Capture Selected Window" option.

The tool will capture the selected window and add shadow around it. However, I realised that the screen capture is stored in JPG format which doesn't support transparency. So I googled and found the command to change the format to png:

defaults write com.apple.screencapture type PNG

I ran above command in terminal and redo the screen capture. Here's how it differs, between JPG and PNG:
