The Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) allows for any citizen to request any information of public interest from the government. Anybody can request for any government information or data without the need for an explanation. The use of this act helps to inform citizen advocacy and keeps the government accountable. Unfortunately, many do not know of the existence of this Act and those that do hardly ever use it. The main reason for the latter is that it takes a lot of effort to create and send a request.

To ease the effort and promote more government accountability, I've created a freedom of information (FOI) request bot on twitter. This bot helps you request any information you need from a government body. It does this by building a custom FOI request letter for you and emails it to you. You may then choose to send this letter yourself or have it done on your behalf for a small fee.

To use the bot, simply tweet at the handle on twitter or tag the bot anywhere. The handle is

@IRequestFOI

You will then get a tweet back to you with a link.

Clicking on the link will take you to a form

Once you complete and submit the form, you will get an email with your FOI request letter. You may then print and send it to the government body or request it be sent on your behalf.
