Student Association (SA)

Article II. PURPOSE


The Student Association exists for the personal development of each student at Weimar Institute. SA will work to meet students’ physical, mental, and spiritual needs as well as improve campus life and foster unity within the student body. SA will also work to improve communication between staff and students.  To fulfill this purpose, SA will utilize opportunities of personal interaction, campus events, surveys, and student representation at College Council meetings.

Article III. POSITIONS


The following sections list the position and responsibilities of each member of SA. The SA consists of the President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Event Coordinator, Media and Marketing Advisor, Two Women’s Spiritual Representatives, Two Men’s Spiritual Representatives, Women’s Village Spiritual Representative, and the Men’s Village Spiritual Representative.

Section I. President

The President is to be unselfish, humble, optimistic, and decisive. He/she must be a spiritual leader. The President is to strive for unity in SA and the student body as a whole. The responsibilities of the President include ensuring the productivity of SA by writing meeting agendas, delegating tasks, and holding the members of SA accountable in fulfilling their assigned tasks. The President is also to attend College Council meetings and communicate relevant information from these meetings to the rest of SA. The President, working along with their Vice President, is to articulate the vision for the whole of SA and maintain accountability through the execution of plans.

Section II. Vice President

The Vice President is to assist the President and act in the case of the President’s absence. The Vice President is to be unselfish, humble, understanding, and optimistic. The responsibilities of the Vice President include supporting the President, re-enforcing delegated work, and providing accountability for the President as well as the rest of SA. The Vice President is invited—but not required—to sit in on the Academic Affairs Committee meetings. In the temporary absence of an ECOM member, the Vice President is to function as an interim until said member can resume their role. During this time, he is to be in communication with the absent member in how to best fulfill the absence of their role. Finally, the Vice President will assist the President by helping the Representatives fulfill their role of representing the Student Body.

Section III. Secretary

The Secretary is to be focused, punctual, organized, and an effective communicator. The responsibilities of the Secretary include assisting the President in preparing meeting agendas, recording attendance at all meetings, taking meeting notes, summarizing delegated roles at the end of each meeting, and checking the status of delegated roles at the beginning of each meeting. The Secretary is also responsible for the management and delegation of the SA blog.

Section IV. Treasurer

The Treasurer is to oversee the financial aspect of SA. The Treasurer is, to be honest, responsible, detail-oriented, and frugal. The responsibilities of the Treasurer include planning and organizing fundraising programs. The Treasurer is to keep a detailed record of all monetary expenditures of SA. He/she is to propose a budget for each endeavor planned by SA, work with the Business Office, and purchase any supplies needed by SA.

Section V. Event Coordinator

The Event Coordinator is to be organized, efficient, and productive. He/she is to provide wholesome, recreational, and educational activities for the student body to enjoy. The Event Coordinator must be able to delegate tasks. He/she should work towards having events on a frequent basis.
