Concept and the Script

So at the beginning we decided to go with psychological drama genre, and we were just chit chatting, then we found out we both were born in 2002, so we really wanted to add our childhood dreamcore/weirdcore elements into the film. And since it’s a drama, we were thinking some strong contrast, such as involving someone’s death, and the switching between cold reality and fun dreams. Then, the brief idea of our script was born: A dying person’s final visions — flickering fragments of reality. For some background and a clearer story image, the final story became:

The protagonist dozes off at her desk in the office. A coworker wakes her up, but soon she begins to drift back into sleep. As she does, the computer screen in front of her starts to distort. The camera slowly moves from a wide shot to a close-up — everything feels dreamlike.

In her dream, she experiences a series of surreal visions:

  1. She stands still as glass marbles suddenly burst into the scene, bouncing and scattering her away.
  2. She finds herself inside a pixelated video game, piloting a spaceship to shoot down alien invaders.
  3. She then appears inside an old Motorola phone.
  4. Next, she’s in an amusement park, standing in front of a claw machine shop filled with plush toys.
  5. Lines of floating, scrolling code begin to appear before her eyes.
