DoorDash and other delivery apps are destroying restaurants with their massive delivery and pickup fees.
These delivery fees range from 25-30% of the order. But most restaurants don't have a different delivery solution so they're forced to eat those delivery fees.
But what really kills restaurants is the pickup fee.
When customers order Pickup through DoorDash and not directly through the restaurant, DoorDash takes a 15% cut, leaving restaurants with very low profit margins.
And this isn't some small problem. DoorDash rakes in over $100M a year from Pickup Orders alone. That's $100M leaving restaurants because of DoorDash and their 15% Pickup fee.
This is destroying restaurants profit margins and driving restaurant owners insane. Because this is Pickup, not delivery. Restaurants have never had to pay pickup fees in the past & they shouldn’t have to pay them now.
So to avoid those pickup fees and hopefully turn a profit, restaurants are begging customers to order pickup directly through them instead.
But customers don't want to order directly through restaurants because it's painfully inconvenient to order and pay through all their countless different websites and apps.
So they continue to order pickup from DoorDash while restaurants continue to pay the price.
