<aside> ➡️ Directions: Liturgy means “work of the people.” Worship is a kind of work that we all do together. No one is left out! We’ve compiled this liturgy to be accessible to as many people as possible. If you need to make adjustments because of young children, feel free to do so. If you are able to take this slowly and meditatively, please do so! The reader can change between liturgical elements, in fact, we encourage it!

Liturgy for 4.5.20

"While I am with Him I fear nothing"

Call

Another week has passed, heavy to say the least. Each new day has felt like a deeper decent into a valley, shadowed with fear, sickness, and even death.

It feels lonely in this valley. Although the experience is collective, the isolation of being confined to our homes and kept from one another has already begun to take its toll, plaguing our morale.

In this valley, it’s difficult to see the way ahead. The path is unclear, distorted, and complicated, with no map for guidance or direction.

In this valley, each step is a struggle - to pray, to listen, to love, to cry. We share in an uphill climb with an uncertain ending.

Yet in all of this, You are a Refuge and Strength, a very present Help in time of trouble. The way seems unclear, but You, Lord are always with us.

God, guide us. Breathe into our places of uncertainty with faith.

God, guide us. Breathe into our places of loneliness with hope.

God, guide us. Breathe into our places of sadness with peace.

God, whom we name Father, Son, and Spirit, meet us in our moments of despair. Grant us a deep and abiding sense of Your presence, that we might rest in the reality that You are with us in this season and in every season.

Union Chapel, come and worship.
