A TL;DR (too long; don’t read) of opinions that I think are worth thinking about. Going to keep them short since it’s a bit easier to read.

A TL;DR of my views on DEI

Let’s take a step back and question why DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) even exists in the first place.

  1. DEI ≠ hire anyone based on their skin color; DEI is meant to give minorities (socioeconomic and race) with different backgrounds, who are qualified, a chance to launch into their career. Think about:
    1. People grow up in households that don’t have any family connections to corporate.
    2. Lack of resources applying to internships early because of weak wifi or family needs.
    3. Unaware of LinkedIn because parents are not in the field, lack of resume help. These are just a few. You don’t have to agree with all of them.
  2. A quick Q&A
    1. Q: Why do we need DEI if people are qualified?
    2. A: Basically everything above, people are qualified, it’s hard to juggle family needs and values on top of school, and also lack of awareness of resources because we’ve never been told about it until school, classes, or other students.
    3. It makes sense that someone with resources and the help of others are more likely to find more opportunities.
  3. DEI helps people who will earn lower wages if not given the right opportunity. Pulling a family out of the poverty cycle improves the community and life for EVERYONE.

Quick search on Implicit bias; from someone’s natural hair to someone else’s religion, implicit bias creates biases that you inherently aren’t aware of but act on. This is seen in race and gender. And even in Ai

A TL;DR of my views on Abortion

  1. Ima be honest, I am not a women. I can rant about my views on abortion as much as I want, but at the end of the day, it is not my body and say.
    1. Nowadays, it’s no longer debating whether abortion is correct or not. Ever since Trump overturned Roe v. Wade, it’s now about a person’s right to choose what they want to do with their body.
  2. And as a dude, I’m not going to be the one carrying a baby in my belly for 9-months.

Though, I do think people using religion to dictate another person’s choice should not be allowed. Group A forcing their beliefs onto group B has never worked out well. Which leads to why religion is kept out of public schools.
