For too long, the design has occupied the 2nd position when products are created in India. The vast size of the market with a lot of 1st-time users meant that even a slightly better offering would suffice, and that's what everyone aspired to achieve.
The design was treated as a means to an end, where the delivery trumps experience. Any bold experiment needs a Silicon Valley precedent, otherwise, it's shot down with "This is not how it's done".
There is a handful of design-first Indian companies, but things are changing. And we want to be the pioneer among the changemakers. We wish to change the focus from just usability to anticipated delight.
