History of polls-

Polls can be misleading as people who are answering the polls could be concerned/worried about their identity as it might make them look racist, heartless, etc. (Responsive bias)
People tend to give socially desirable responses, not honest opinions.
Public opinion polls provide us with some sense of the thoughts and moods of a large group of people.

Politicians often use public opinion polling to shape their responses to issues rather than defining the issue to the politicians. the polls are used to help them craft a msg that will be most accepted by the public.
Public opinion polling plays a role in the setting of the policy agenda by informing the politicians of the Issues that seem to matter to the public.
It is imp to know these points to reduce the errors while measuring polls-
- How many respondents were there?
- How were they chosen?

Good polls are created with scientific rigors.
