About Picnic 📓

We’re on a mission to make the world better friends

At Picnic, we understand how important friendships are; they make our lives happier, our bodies and minds healthier, and our decisions better (well… most of the time). Our friends are in fact the single most important contributing factor to our overall happiness and health.

Over the last decade though, the social apps that we rely on to support these relationships on a daily basis have neglected that fact. Depression among social media's heaviest users is up three-fold while Gen Z are the loneliest generation in history.

Picnic is a next-generation social app built with your wellbeing embedded in our DNA. Backed by science and the researcher who discovered Dunbar’s number, we’re changing the way friends connect and share online for the better.

The app

We’re building the best way to share pics with friends, starting with two-tap shared albums:

🚰 Tap Just two taps and you have an album on Picnic ready to share.

💕 Share Share the link and everyone adds their pics in one tap of a button.

Our values 🧬

What Would Dunbar Do?

Our mission to make the world better friends is at the core of everything we do. Abandoning our integrity would be a surefire way of ending up becoming the very thing (or company) we set out to disrupt. We are committed now and always to putting people's wellbeing above profits.

That means we'll never consider extractive advertising business models that harvest or sell people's personal data as viable. Every feature we build or decision we take must be rooted in strengthening relationships and improving wellbeing, backed by the science that's available to us. That’s why it was so important to us to become certified as a B Corp early on.

Robin Dunbar; anthropologist, evolutionary psychologist, the man behind Dunbar’s number and the patron saint of Picnic. He sits majestically on our advisory board too.

We work hard on working well together

At the core of the culture at Picnic is our belief that the best teams are built on a foundation of genuine trust and mutual respect.

  1. We balance serious work and good vibes. We are genuinely passionate about our mission and our duties, but we also know that we do our best work when we're enjoying ourselves. For us that means hiring people who take their responsibilities more seriously than they take themselves.
