Why's the Birth Rate Falling off the Cliff?

January 3rd, 2021. The Financial Times released an article stating Korea's decline in population in 2020 - the first time in human history. This occurred as the amount of deaths surmounted the amount of births, leading an overall population decrease.

What's going on? Less people are getting married and having children. It's a characteristic often seen in developed countries, but the fall seems particularly striking in South Korea, where birth rates have fallen to less than 1%.
