Send data and trigger workflows from a reusable element or a repeating group cell
Problem: You cannot access data within a reusable element from the main page, nor can you trigger a workflow on the main page from within a reusable element. Also, there is a communication barrier between repeating group cells and elements outside of the repeating group.
Solution: By placing a Communicator Sender inside your reusable element or repeating group cell you can send any piece of data to the Communicator Receiver (which sits on the main page and can trigger events).

Setup
- Add a Communicator Receiver element on the main page, give it a unique ID, and specify the type of data it will be receiving.
- Add a Communicator Sender element either inside your reusable element, or in your repeating group cell, as appropriate. Note, you only need to fill out the ID and Thing / value here if you are using the "Conditional Mode" (expand for more).
Workflows
- Publish value (Sender element): Lets you send a value or a Thing to the Receiver. Please specify the Unique ID (same as specified in the Receiver element) and the data to send.
Events
- Updated (Receive element): This event is triggered when the Receiver receives data from the Sender either via the "publish value" workflow, or from a condition being met if setup to use "conditional mode".
FAQ
- If I put the Sender inside of a reusable element, can the reusable element be inside a repeating group?
