When I was an SEO Director at an agency I managed over 180 accounts at one time. Basically the buck stopped with me and at any given time there were always 15-20 clients who were pissed off. Man it was stressful. That said, post that experience nothing fazes me anymore.

Fast forward to today. I am an SEO Consultant with 2 full-time employees. I lead a low-stress life because I only have a handful of high ticket clients at a time. I’ve also managed to grow my revenue 100%, 100% and 56% in the last 3 years. I know run a high margin, 7 figure SEO Consulting company.

Some things to keep in mind when pitching funded SaaS companies:

It's very common for a person making $80,000 a year to be managing a million dollar SEO budget.

Your retainer should be well in excess of your contact's monthly salary.

Things to look for: funding rounds (check CrunchBase). The more there are, the more growth obsessed they are. Typically the lower the series the more conservative they are.
