This is another American movie that I probably wouldn’t get around to, watched in Japanese dub on the trip to Japan – but I wasn’t on a plane for this one, it was on TV. What happened was my feet were killing me midway through the trip after lots of walking around to see stuff each day, and particularly on the train to Osaka from the ryokan, I had to stand since the train was crowded and it was absolute torture. So when we got to the hotel I was dead tired to the point where like, I wanted to have awake time relaxing before falling asleep, you know what I mean? Like, just collapsing into unconsciousness wasn’t enough, even if it would have been ideal. I needed to veg out and know I was vegging out. So I ended up getting shakachiki from Mcdonalds and konbini snacks and highballs, and channel flipped for a bit before catching the beginning of Minions and then just… watched the rest of Minions like that in the hotel before at some point after that passing out. It was certainly an interesting experience! And somehow I think the right choice at the time. Anyway, Minions seemed… fine, I guess. I mainly remember being surprised at how a lot of the movie seemed to center around restoring Elizabeth II to the throne of England. I feel like self-respecting Minions should be less gung-ho for the monarchy. Or I suppose that should be like, the point, implying the British monarch was an evil supervillain. Which I’d be down for too I suppose.
