In ReturnRabbit, merchants can configure different types of deductions according to their use case.

Before we proceed, one point to understand is that any Service Request within ReturnRabbit can have multiple items i.e. a shopper can choose one refund (let's say R1) and one exchange request (let's say E1) at the same time, within a single Service Request (let's say SR1).

Processing Fee

  1. It can be used to deduct a standard amount from every service request, irrespective of how many items are being serviced within that request.
    1. For example, a shopper could refund two items and exchange another two, but the deduction will be a fixed amount.
  2. You can configure different deduction amounts for refunds & exchanges
  3. If a service request contains both a refund and an exchange, then the exchange deduction amount will be deducted (i.e. if there's even one exchange in Service Request, the entire Service Request is considered to be an exchange request)
  4. For more details on processing fee deductions, please visit this link: https://www.notion.so/returnrabbit/Rules-Exceptions-5f32024feac2447ab05b7ca324eb57a3#c792994c209048e688c485611af3733e

Restocking Fee

  1. Can be used when you want to deduct an amount for every item in the service request.
    1. For example, if you have $2 as a refund fee and $1 as an exchange fee, then for a service request consisting of 3 refunds & 2 exchanges, the total deduction will be
      1. (2*$1) + (3*$2) = $8
  2. Please note that restocking deduction is not a standard deduction but rather depends on the number of items within a service request.
  3. You can have different values for refunds & exchanges
  4. The restocking fee is tied to refund payment methods, this means that
    1. You can have a different refund & exchange deduction on the basis of the payment methods that shoppers choose i.e. for Gift Cards, this deduction can be 0 & for refunds back to the source, this can be greater than 0

Shipping Fee

  1. Shipping Fee deduction depends on whether or not Dynamic Shipping Rates are enabled for your store. By default, dynamic shipping rates are disabled when you install ReturnRabbit and you need to contact us at [email protected] to get it enabled.
  2. Based on whether or not Dynamic Shipping Rates are enabled for your store, there are different ways shipping deductions are calculated for your shoppers
    1. If Dynamic Shipping Rates are disabled:
      1. The deductions that you configure here will be used: https://admin.aspen.cx/configure/shipping/shipping-methods
    2. If Dynamic Shipping Rates are enabled:
      1. The deductions that you configure in your carrier config will be used, link: https://admin.aspen.cx/configure/shipping/carrier-config
      2. We suggest our merchants use this method if they have different carriers for different lanes
        1. For example, if you use USPS labels for any shoppers returning items from California but Fedex for shoppers returning from Michigan, then a global value (if dynamic shipping rates were disabled) might not work for you because you might have different contracts with FedEx and USPS so you can set rates at USPS & FedEx service levels like the rate for USPS Priority can be different from the rate for USPS First & so on for FedEx.
