About the Role

This is an unusual role: it’s an opportunity to move directly from lead gen (BDR/SDR or digital advertising) to venture capital / startup investing — without 10+ years experience, an MBA or a successful startup exit.

Our Lead Gen specialist will work directly with co-founder Taylor Thompson to help create our venture studio and launch our first 12+ companies. Purpose Built’s process involves two stages of customer contact:

  1. Exploration: Where we speak with 5-10 potential customers to mine for “pain” and “hell yes” excitement to participate in a pilot
  2. MVP: Where our founders speak with 50-100 potential customers to find early adopters to confirm demand and willingness to pay

This role is responsible for building a funnel of potential customers for these plans through outbound and high-velocity, low-spend digital ads.

This role is critical to how we create new business ideas, validate demand from customers, and launch 4+ new companies each year. It’s ideal for someone who is curious, learns and works quickly, and wants to build a career starting or investing in mission-driven companies.

We have a distributed team and the candidate is not expected to move.

About You

We’re looking for someone who is curious, works and learns quickly, and is excited to build a career in early stage technology — either as a founder, operator, or investor. We also want someone with experience doing outbound and qualification, and who can quickly take responsibility for managing ads as well.
