Premise

Avastars is a collection of more than 25000 unique characters that can be used on different platforms and metaverses. Some users want to be able to use them on low-end platforms and are finding a problem. They file size is too heavy to import them. This is because these platforms do not accept VRMs that weigh more than 8mb due to their limitations. This can be solved by reducing the size of the textures of our avatar.

Mission

The objective is to empower the user to customize their Avastar, reducing the file size and ensuring compatibility with low-end platforms like Oncyber.

Method 1: Blender

Step 1: Installing the required software and add-ons

To perform a VRM re-compression on the Avastars collection the following software and plugin is required:

Step 2: Import your VRM in Blender

Once you have it set, in the File tab you will find a new import method. Click on import VRM and browse your computer, selecting the VRM that you aim to recompress.

Step 4: Select all the objects and export the VRM

When all images are reduced, select all objects in the scene and export them again as VRM. You can overwrite the one you already have or give it a new name.
