Overview
Naruhodo is designed with privacy in mind. We do not require you to create an account, and we do not sell your personal data.
Data We Collect
Camera & Photos When you scan a menu, the image is sent directly to Google's Gemini AI service for analysis. Images are not stored on our servers — we have no backend server. A compressed copy of the image is saved locally on your device as part of your scan history.
Location With your permission, we use your approximate location to tag scans with a place name (e.g., city or restaurant area). Location data is stored only on your device and is never transmitted to us.
Usage Analytics We use Firebase Analytics (by Google) to collect anonymous, aggregated data about how the app is used — such as which screens are viewed and how often scans are performed. This data cannot be used to identify you personally.
Crash Reports We use Firebase Crashlytics (by Google) to automatically collect crash reports when the app encounters an error. These reports help us fix bugs and include device type, OS version, and a stack trace. They do not include your name, email, or any menu images.
Scan Balance Your remaining scan count is stored in iCloud Key-Value Store. This allows your balance to persist if you reinstall the app. Apple manages this storage under their own privacy policy.
