VICTOR OF 95th HUNGER GAMES. There hasn’t been a night since your Games that you don’t sleep with a knife as a partner — waiting for the beasts to return, for the slain to choke you in your sleep. You have memorized the swing of your sword as you chopped off their heads, hung them in the trees — where is that righteous anger now?

BERSERKER won their Games via rebellious means. Of course, it wasn’t their fault. They were trying to get home to whatever family they left behind. They never expected, in that arena, to turn into the monster. They never expected to use the arena to their advantage, taking their final victim in an ingenious way that not even the Gamemakers had suspected. That was the problem, though. You beat them at their own Games. And the warm welcome you dreamed of was dashed to bits of flesh. President Snow took your family first. Then, he took your sanity.

You don’t know how long you were kept underground in his padlocked palace. Maybe if you could stomach the memories, you could remember, but instead, all you are left with is fragments. Pieces of yourself that you will never recover, no matter how much you mine and sift around. That’s why you sleep with the knife — it is the only thing sure in this life.

Nowadays, in the media, you are known to fly off the handle. The hot-head. The brash. The rude. The insane. The public does not know of your mental conditioning, which left you fearful of your own self. It is not often the public is exposed to your highly defensive nature, but when they are, it is treated as a spectacle, as typical behavior. Do they remember the timid child who greeted them first on that Interview stage? Who barely spoke? Of course they don’t. All they know is the Capitol’s mutt, and they prefer it this way.

QUICK FACTS:

• Aged 21 - 24. You likely won your Games when you were 15 or 16. You won in a rebellious way, exploiting the Arena’s weaknesses. See Haymitch’s games when looking for inspiration, but also you can ask a mod if you’re struggling with ideas!
• Was dropped off mysteriously on your family’s doorstep in D12; you were moved to an orphanage in D7 in your childhood where you worked in either the Outer City or the Inner Forest.
• Any family you have is entirely adopted, likely consisting of the other orphans you worked with.
• After your Games, the Capitol murdered someone or someone(s) close to you. You are a bit of a pariah in your District for this reason, but some people are kind to you. You likely know these people to be dissenters to Capitol rule.
• Additionally, after your Games, you were subjected to mental conditioning where tracker jacker venom was used to make you associate certain memories and people with enough fear that you turn to violence as a form of defense. The reasoning for doing this is unclear to you, but you have been a pawn used by President Snow ever since. He is determined to portray you as a cruel, animalistic person. This is why you are subjected to many public appearances despite your tender mental condition. You have had more than one violent display on camera, usually over inane things that your brain perceived as violent threats to yourself and the few people you hold dear.

CONNECTIONS.

THE HAMLET — After you won your Games, they were one of the people to work on your injuries. They tended to your wounds post-op, and despite the weeks you spent underground, they managed to keep up with you when you got home. You do not trust them, rightfully so, and thus have a stilted relationship.
