Oberlin’s typographic language plays a pivotal role in enhancing communication effectiveness. Like colors, our font choices reinforce the intended tone across our designs and messages.
We’re excited to announce an important update to Oberlin’s visual identity: beginning in 2026, **GT Pantheon OC** and GT Standard will replace Mercury and Gotham as our official brand typefaces.
Mercury and Gotham served us well. However, a recent change in licensing has significantly increased their cost, especially for digital use. Rather than continue investing in fonts that no longer align with our needs, we saw an opportunity to shift to a more versatile, future-forward solution that reflects Oberlin’s bold, intellectual, and collaborative spirit.
