What is Novelly? Novelly is a nonprofit digital publisher and platform amplifying diverse youth voices. We publish youth-written stories that meet the moment and host youth-led courageous conversations that move us forward all in one digital platform. We’ve been funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and AT&T. What are the responsibilities of a Data Science Intern? As Novelly’s Data Science Intern, you will play an integral role in building Novelly’s data infrastructure and pipeline, and developing analysis on user engagement with our platform, marketing performance and assessing the impact of Novelly’s programs. This includes:

• Centralize different data sources into one cohesive source for organization and management of data on engagement, marketing and surveys
• Build large-scale batch and real-time data pipelines with data processing frameworks
• Use best-practices in continuous integration and delivery of analytics
• Performing analysis on large sets of data to extract insights that will help drive decisions across the company
• Build dashboards and reporting results, empowering creative growth and business decisions
• Communicate data-driven insights and recommendations to key collaborators
• Work closely with cross-functional teams of designers, program managers, marketers and others across the company who are passionate about Novelly’s success

It all starts from eliminating data silos and joining them in one place. Robust and reliable data is the focus of this semester and will define the trajectory of how Novelly will use data in the future.
