Our Mission

Our mission is to get makers making.

The Mixed Media Shop, or MMX, has a unique place in the greater Nova Labs mission. We are a stand alone shop full of ideas and opportunities as well as being a bridge between any and all other shops.

For many, we are the first stop to making when arriving at Nova Labs.

For others, we are the shop that has the tool needed for just a portion of their greater project.

And yet for others… we have screwdrivers.

We also have the ability to try stuff. This is where we can figure things out together using new materials and processes.

• Do you have a combination of materials that need to be worked together? Let’s make that mess here.
• Is there something that has a component not allowed on the tools of the greater shop it comes from? Let’s get some ideas on doing it safely over here.
• Did you see something cool on YouTube? Let’s see if we can make it work here.
• Was there a neat thingamajig on Instagram? Let’s get one and try it out here.
• Want to do a TikTok dance with tools? No. That’s dangerous. We do have limits.

Mission Implementation

1. Support beginner makers with approachable, simple tools and a simplified sign off process.
2. Support mixed media/material projects (wood, metal, plastics, concrete, resin, foam, or any combination)
