Have you ever noticed that none of the subclasses in Xanathar's Guide to Everything use any of the spells listed in that book? Strange, huh? Unfortunately, you can't either if you'd like to have your homebrew content here. We know what those spells are, but we can't use them here due to copyrights. If you're relying on D&D spells, make sure they're part of the System Reference Document, or that they're homebrew spells that we can use.

When your homebrew gets declined with this reason and you wish to resubmit your content, please make sure your content doesn't use D&D content that isn't part of the SRD or homebrew.

Tips and Examples

• If a spell is already in the spell list, you're allowed to use it. If it's not, you'll either have to find it in the System Reference Document or homebrew a similar spell yourself;
• Make sure your content isn't too similar to content that isn't part of the SRD. A spell called Albi-Dazim's Horrible Wilting that draws moisture from creatures isn't allowed, for example;
• If your content happens to use non-SRD content, you can try to find an SRD substitute. For example, you can replace Hold Monster with the Dominate Beast spell.
