• Discuss some of the possible tensions involved in making news judgments:
• Persuade classmates to change their minds
• Pick a side and explain your decision

For evaluating the news:

• Critique the front page of local newspapers
• Create a gallery walk of news stories
• Come up with alternative criteria for judging the news
• Check a classmate's newsworthy assertions

For creating the news:

• Come up with a news story idea and pitch it to a local journalist!
