Hi, I’m Alex, welcome or welcome back to my little corner of the internet
this is technically my first video, if you don’t count my little introduction, I figured I could start with something easy and that I’m passionate about, to get more comfortable in front of the camera
so today I wanna tell you about my favourite book creators here on youtube
Elizabeth @ PlantBasedBride - started her channel over 10 years ago to docuement her vegan wedding jounrey, then she kept going with journalling, and a few years ago changed to almost exclusively books, she’s my favourite, the one that I look up to the most, she is such an inspiration when it comes to annotating, reading critically, widely, diversely, and she even motivated me to get my hair more orange, I love her aesthetic, she’s very soft dark academia, or I guess, beige academia? muted earth tones, and her cats, she always apologise when they interrupt the video and I’m like “oh babies!”, she also often says something like “I coukd keep going but this video is already too long” and I’m like, “girl, you could make a 24 hour podcast episode and I would devour it”, she is bisexual and has ADHD, check and check, love that because she always mentions when there is good or bad bisexual rep in a book, and her video about ADHD books was great, hope she makes more, I’m doing the reading around the world challenge inspired by her, this will be a VERY slow thing for me, over the course of many years, and I will be using her list from her blog as a reference
Leonie @ TheBookLeo - first of all, beautiful name, she’s from the Netherlands, I love her accent, she seems like such a lovely person, I also love her aesthetic, even more so than Elizabeth’s because it’s darker and more fantasy inspired, closer to my personal taste, I love her intro with the sword, I want a sword so bad, Leonie has another channel which is a podcast archive, it’s called Curiouser and Curiouser, it’s not technically a book podcast/channel, but she does talk about a lot of book related topics, and all the other topics, which are all fascinating by the way, she always cites the sources she got her info and ideas from, which usually includes a ton of interesting books, her videos are NOT good for the length of my tbr
Emma @ emmiereads - genuinely, the most soothing voice on this app, I think Emma is the creator I watch the most, she has quite long, casual vlog-style videos, she’s such a comforting person to watch, the way she talks, her vibe, her cats, her house, how she always shows the snow, the sky, the lake, nature, I always feel… calmer after watching one of her videos, and the way she talks about things she loves, be it books or other, it’s heartwarming, Emma is the channel I always go to when I’m feeling down, which… recently is quite often, most of the time really, chronic illness and chronic pain sucks.. and the fact that she does talk about that too really helps
Bella @ throneofpages - Bella also has a very casual, vlog vibe, I love putting on her videos for body doubling, when I need to study or something… I do always get distracted tho but that’s not her fault- well, actually, it IS her fault, cause her content is entertaining, I LOVE her “reading for 24 hours straight” videos, so fun, and it curbs my cravings for doing the same, whenever I get close to wanting to do one of those myself, I watch one of Bella’s videos and am like “right, nope, not a good idea”, Bella is from the Dominican Republic, and I speak Spanish too so I love her little tidbits in Spanish when she can’t remember a word or when she’s tweaking from sleep deprivation, it’s so relatable as a multilingual girlie, cause no matter how fluent I get in English, Portuguese, my native language always comes natural to me, oh and also she’s an army aye
Meredith Novaco @ meredithnovaco - she says she’s not a journalist but JOURNALISM is what she’s doing, I always go to her channel for analysis and controversy videos, like her Wuthering Heights video, the Age of Scorpius, Powerless/Red Queen comparison, etc., and she only speaks facts, I always agree with what she says
Eden @ EdenYonas / edensarchives - unfortunately she doesn’t post as much on YouTube, but you better be sure I always see her posts on Tiktok, Eden Eden… Eden is dangerous, because she triggers my parassocialism the most out of this list, she’s just one of those creators who is so fun, energetic, relatable, funny, that you feel like she’s your bestie, I WANT her to be my bestie, her takes and her recs are always on point, bestie, please post more on youtube (if you want, love ya)
