Why?

MUI, as a company, relies on Discord for some of its projects, to solve these problems:

  1. A place for the community to hang out. Working on GitHub issues and Stack Overflow only doesn't create space for less serious topics between community members.
  2. Key community members. Some community members are a lot more impactful than others; they might be contributors, leading technical decisions at big trusted organizations, etc. We have to work more closely with them.
  3. Collect user feedback on new projects. For example, Toolpad doesn't yet have enough traction. We even support until there is a large enough community to move all support to GitHub issues and a Stack Overflow-like place (e.g., Discourse). This also applies to more mature projects, but to run user research.
