really impressed with Emby - WAN UPnP worked out of the box! (now granted, I think it should be off by default for security reasons!)
I’ve dabbled w creating a media server in 2002 when my friend sold me his x486 server for $100 - i ended up buying a few hard drives to store music and movies and this hobby went kaput when I went to Asia for 5 years. When I got back from Asia, I tried to pick the ball up again in 2010 with a [[Mac mini server]] and this project also went kaput when I left LA around 2013.
I dabbled with [[Kodi]] around 2016 or 2017?
Fast forward to 2020 and recently learned Kodi was never designed to be a “media server” - just a nifty media interface. Emby and Plex had being media servers in mind...
