Hatch is a writing companion designed to help you polish, draft, and refine text directly within your browser’s input fields. Its sole purpose is to provide context-aware writing assistance using your preferred AI provider.
Hatch requests the following permissions to provide its core functionality:
storage: Used to save your settings, tone calibrations, voice profiles, and API keys locally on your device. This ensures a persistent experience without needing a central Hatch server.activeTab: Used to determine the current website context (e.g., distinguishing between a professional email and a social media post) and to respect privacy by remaining inactive in incognito windows.host_permissions (http://*/*, https://*/*): Required to provide writing assistance across different websites and to allow the Extension to communicate directly with your chosen AI provider (Anthropic or OpenAI) without middleman servers.Hatch follows a “Bring Your Own Key” (BYOK) model to ensure you maintain full control over your data.
